There is nothing to separate their two possible targets, but a random die throw selects the unit on the north edge of the hill. Archers require 9+ against cavalry, but there is a +1 modifier for being bowmen attacking from an adjacent hex. The dice total 6.
I choose to counterattack with my rearward cavalry, needing 6+, but with a -1 modifier thanks to having friendly horsemen on hand, and I roll 8, which is enough to rout the archers. My cavalry occupy the archers' vacated hex.
