Slingshot Issue 365

THE Jul/Aug edition of Slingshot, the journal of the Society of Ancients, arrived last month, and turned out to make especially interesting reading, at least for me.

Striking cover ... great contents

Sometimes one article stands out from the rest - not that the rest are ever bad -  as being exceptionally good.

But this time that could be said of nearly every article, including Michael Fredholm von Essen's look at the mysterious Heruls, Jim Webber's discussion of Achaemenid logistics, and reports on refights of Cunaxa from the society's battleday.

A thoroughly entertaining read - even the book reviews seemed above average.
